I take note of the maidenspearmint for future reference, and move over to the bloodberry bush. There seem to be plenty of good ripe berries there -- more than enough to heal our company.

Twenty-seven is a very good number. I pick them carefully, not wanting to stain my dress with the blood-like juice.

George notices his bubble is losing its ability to remain afloat. Whether the bubbles are not meant to last or whether Muziko willed them not to is unclear. The bubbles to not pop until all are safe.

George says, "Paul... Babe... I think you two deserve a raise." The men shake hands with the foreman, when Paul refers to him as 'bossman,' George replies, "You won't be calling me that no more, Paul. I'm retiring, leaving you in charge at the yard. I'm too old to swing an axe, and certainly too old to get involved in whatever kinda mess Needle got himself into. But I've got years left with the wife, five kids, and fourteen grandkids. But I'm afraid I mean to cheat them outta some inheritance."

He turns to Riff. "It's nice to see eye-to-eye with you, young lady. I guess as a fairy, you don't normally carry coins about. Well, let me set up an account for you and I'll take ten thousand silver from mine and divvy it up among you and your friends. Counting the smallfolk... eleven? That right?"

"Ten," says Muziko. "I cannot accept money."

Addison shrugs. "I can."

"Thousand each," says George. "Easy math for an old fart's deteriorating brain. I appreciate it."

I look back at the maidenspearmint, a memory nagging at my mind. Back when I was training on Mount Neverest, one of my fellow shieldmaidens showed me a spell. She would sing to create water in her hands, wash them twice, and then pour more water onto the maidenspearmint plant to give the leaves their healing power. I have no confidence in my own ability to sing the spell, but there are others who might be of help.

I look at Vincent, then Mariya. Of course, a muse would already have a spell to summon water.

Vincent

I catch Diana's thoughts when she looks at me, then follow her gaze to Mariya. I say to the muse, "I think Diana would like your help. Could you summon water to pour onto the maidenspearmint so the leaves will work for healing?"

Fenella: We seem to have won the battle, but some of our friends are injured. I see that Mariya has hopped down from my shoulder. Is there anything I can do to help?

I echo Diana's thoughts aloud, speaking to Mariya: "As long as everyone here is ready to be healed, yes."

To Fenella, I add, "If you know anything about treating wounds, we could use an extra pair of hands. Anyone else?" I look around at the others.

Babe replies, "It's a short walk to the lumberyard. Lemme get you a bucket… or… um… wait. Do we need to drink outta the container?"

Paul says, "We got mugs in the break room. They oughtta be clean 'nuff."

Mariya thinks for a moment. "I believe I can fill Diana's hands, if this is needed quickly. I just need to create enough to cleanse the maidenspearmint, am I right?"

Mariya's tiny lips are hard to read, but Vincent signs to translate for me. I smile and nod to the muse. Pouring the water over the plant itself might do, and then I can simply pluck enough wet leaves for everyone.

Muziko says, "I think I can use this spell too, if it's completely harmless." She opens her mouth but no sound comes out. "I… better watch you first," she says to Mariya. "I'm not sure where the water comes out." She stares at her hands ponderously.

I hop up to Diana's shoulder and use my Echoes of Silence to say, "I'll do it. Where is it?" Then I look at Muziko and actually speak. "I'll show you. I think we need the herb as soon as possible."

I look around and go back to where I found the blue-leaved plant, kneeling to be closer when it comes time to pick the leaves.

I sing softly, calling the water to cleanse these leaves. A small amount of water begins to trickle out of my hands and hits the leaves gently. The motion the water makes is almost ghostlike in the way it moves through the air. A little more water comes as I sing louder, until the spell is used up and the plant is thoroughly cleansed.

Babe scratches his head. He asks Paul, "All that water comin' outta her like that… that don't hurt the little lady, does it?"

Paul shrugs.

Muziko giggles. "This spell is so pretty! Maybe we can take turns, or cleanse the leaves two at a time!"

Addison says, "You can… but you need a skilled herbalist to apply the leaf in a way that does any good." She turns to Jeisera, adding, "You obviously got the gift. Esmerelda don't ask just anybody to weed her garden."

Muziko looks at the two Huntresses. She smiles, "Will you help me, Jeisera?"

“Oh my gosh, thanks George!” I exclaim, beaming a smile at the foreman. What a generous fellow, but I hope he has enough left to buy a new pair of pants.

Jei is still fuming, I don’t think she’ll ever get used to my mushroom magic. Everyone is now focused on recovering, I’m sad that I can’t be of help, that was truly a very harrowing fight!

Jeisera

Finally, the battle is over! However, a savage rage still has a vice-grip on me! I kick through the smoldering wreckage, looking for a souvenir…

I see the shield maiden is back on her feet, looking through the bushes. My herbalist instincts kick into gear. I still have my dandilioness’ stuffed in my satchel, maybe I should pick some of those bloodberries for safe keeping? Chances are, things are bound to get harrier from here.

There’s a bozo named Blathfemmar around here somewhere…strange name.

The old granny taught me well.

As I come around to see what's going on, Muziko asks me to help. "Of course, it'd be my pleasure."

I grin. I haven't used this spell in a long time. I prepare myself to use it again if need be, but I will wait and see if Diana needs me to.

When the leaves are cleansed, I pick one at a time and apply them to the wounds of those who need them. A few of us are lucky enough to be unharmed, but I work quickly to tend to those that aren't so lucky.

((I'm assuming I have to roll for this? How many times?))

((No rolls needed. Go ahead and RP at will. One leaf per person will begin a gradual healing effect. It takes about an hour to fully heal.))

Addison follows Jei to the bush. When she sees how efficient Jei is, she says, "Oh, you got the gift alright!"

((60 berries total for the party!))

Addison proves to be half-decent at it herself, though she thinks otherwise. "Ha! Bloodberries are the best!"

Addison eats one, then gives the rest to Jei.

((Er… 59 bloodberries for the party!))

She stands back and watches the muses work with her fellow herbalists.

I sigh as Diana rubs a leaf onto my wounds, and a cooling sensation spreads across the burns. If only I'd known about this plant twenty years ago, I could have done more for the burns on my face. But Christine was always an actress, not an herbalist. Oh, well. I'm lucky this time around.

Diana

Only when everyone else has been tended to do I finally pick a leaf for my own wounds. The cooling sensation is wonderful. I'm glad it only takes an hour to fully heal. Then again, the bloodberries might speed the process along.
