Diana finishes off the cyclape that was struck by the ethereal bell. It takes a combined effort from both Huntresses and both fighting nuns to bring down the other cyclape. Both fallen apes expel gas. The Spirit-worshipping nuns reel back in horror. One says, "His body is impure!" She is gagging on her words such that those who hear her cannot tell by the voice who is talking.

The stench that shoots up Diana's nostrils is so vulgar, even her words become vulgar.

@Ireth, "Vulgar Stench" is just an RP effect: the urge to swear/curse. RP as best fits your character.

The one cyclape still standing heads straight at Beatrice. Diana stands in his way. Even as she feels the pain of the attack, she isn't knocked senseless. She is well aware that the powerful attack would have dropped the child-goddess in a single blow! As her neck snaps back, pain shoots down her spine and out her shoulder blades. Bee and the nuns hear a sound…

The cyclape rises screaming. Two more of his kind break through the wall. They already seem to know where the enemy is before the dust even clears, each newcomer striking a samurai in the face.

The one who seemed to be dead grabs a barrel. It breaks over JJ's head, spraying enough watered-down ale to quench the remaining flames. Muziko's protective bubble prevents any harm coming to herself, Pidge and her odd contraption.

The barkeep says, "Any chance the winner'll buy a round of drinks? I gotta repair this place after all's said and done."

"Why not do it yourself?" says the thin man.

"Why not **** yourself?" he replies.

"I came to this brothel so I wouldn't have to." He looks around to see if there are any women in the room. He mutters, "Too small, too small, too small, too small… uh…" He raises his glass to Fenella and seems to accept that he'll continue drinking alone.

Amid the battle arrows fly and punches are thrown, and during that time Diana was struck hard by one of the nasties. Concerned, fearing she may be gravely wounded, my mind instantly flicks to visceral instincts. Knocking a shot, as I try and hone on the last ape, I notice that white feathers are jutting from the shield-maiden's back, visible only through the tear in her dress. What the... The raven springs from my bow, hitting its mark, though I'm dreadfully dumbfounded.

As a crazed group of gorillas crash through the wall with arms and debris flying, squeaks of dismay leave my throat! More of them?! Plopping to the floor, I throw a tangle-seed at their feet hoping to stem the mayhem!

Damn! I'd hoped that I'd go the rest of my life without ever seeing a cyclape again. This battle is going to be messy. I attack the beast directly in front of me:

I cough and gag on the stench rising from the dead ape. My mind is full of words that I really hope Bee isn't listening in on. Next second, another cyclape's fist rams into my jaw. Stars dance in my vision, and pain shoots down my spine and out my shoulder blades. I shake my head, trying to pull myself together, and lash out at my attacker.

To my horror, the one-eyed ape spring back to life with a roar. Two more crash through the wall, and the scene devolves into chaos. I take advantage of flying debris from the broken barrel, and use telekinesis to fling a piece of it at the enemy who attacked Reaver.

"Not as often as I probably should," I say to Muziko. "I tend to go on the offensive." But I figure she's right.

The bubble I create is around Fenella. I need to protect her more than I need to destroy the cyclapes.

I'm glad that Mariya has put a protective bubble round us. I've never been that partial to ugly apes. I've had more than my fair share of unattractive frogs to deal with in my time.

A thin man raises his glass to me. I respond by lifting my golden dancing sword higher. Yes, that should put him off getting ideas about drinking with me!

On the rooftop, Addy and Bee graze the cyclape. Emma rushes in behind he projectiles with a flurry of punches and kicks.

In the bar, JJ's wild swing fails to connect. Mariya sings the bubble song while Pidge fires her cannon at the barrel-thrower.

((@Reaver, don't forget to roll for PJ. I'll try to update the maps tonight.))

Emma's combo sends the last cyclape tumbling over the ergo of the roof, but a thump from behind announces the arrival of five more.

Reaver and Fenella tear into the nearest cyclapes, and PJ finishes the one Fenella struck, sending him through a table. Pidge fires her cannon, singing the cyclape. Surprisingly, he drops and rolls before the flames can take him. He then springs up, hurling JJ behind the bar! The remaining ape bangs the samurai's heads together. That doesn't hurt as much as the next attack: a kick in the face to each samurai by a cyclape on a vine!

As Emma sends the last cyclape tumbling from the roof, I take advantage of a moment's reprieve to eat two bloodberries. Those should take the edge off my pain.

A tremor beneath my feet makes me turn, and I huff a sigh through my nose. Perfect, more enemies. I move forward, readying an attack against the first to get close to me.

Vincent

I sling more debris at the nearest cyclape, hoping to deter it. Luckily, there's a lot of debris available in all the chaos.

((@Ireth, by healing you somehow reminded me: everyone downstairs has their spell-songs recharged. And… subtract one arrow from Jei's ravens.))

Addison fires a flamingo into the crowd of cyclapes.

"Huh…" It doesn't explode like the one she fired into Barney's back. "But at least it ain't a dud," she says.

I follow Addy's lead, soaring a flamingo into the advancing throng.

Okay, let's try this again!

The magic fizzles as my seed plops harmlessly to the ground. The smell of these apes and boozers must be getting to me...

The Jaundiced Jackal brushes himself off and pulls a splinter from his face. The barkeep asks, "Y'alright, son?"

JJ replies, "You know how it is. Sometimes you eat the bar." He rips a panel from the mahogany bar, shouting, "And sometimes the bar…EATS…YOU!"

Wielding the broken portion of the bar overhead, JJ charges the cyclape who threw him and swings his improvised weapon.

A cyclape on a vine kicks me in the face hard and it takes several shakes of my head to regain my senses. Once I do, I attack the same beast as before.

My attack is weak...Apparently my senses haven't fully returned.

Addison's arrow does little on its own, but when Jeisera fires her flamingo, the flames spread quickly, engulfing the cyclapes.

The one in front starts to leap out of the flame. Beatrice hurls a spear…

"Pitiful creature," She says, "let me end your suffering."
embed

Unfortunately, the child-goddess only grazes the ape. Hanako rushes in…

embed

She punches and kicks, but as she attempts a third strike, her opponent falls out of her way. There is an odd sound…

embed

Hanako collapses with a look of disgust.

Then suddenly…

map_13_rooftop_05ii_by_legendarysidekick-d7erdhz.png

…there is a bright orange flash and, for all but Diana, a loud fwump! Barely audible over the crackle of flames is a crack, crack, crash!

Through the smoke and flames, I see Hanako and the apes falling through the broken roof. I run forward on instinct, reaching for Hanako with my heart in my throat. I can only pray I'm fast enough.
