He was the antidote and antihero to James Bond. Bond got Aston Martins, beautiful women and casinos, Callan got a bus ticket, a smelly creep called "Lonely" and sweaty betting shops. Callan was a very seedy and not very nice man who used to kill the wrong person fairly often.
I loved him!
