It was a fun but goofy fight. I figured the best roll for the awooga had to be when the crows were starting to gang up on us. Had we knocked out fewer crows with the awooga, I might have suggested the toot for the last round, but with only three left, we didn't seem to need it. It was a great round for Ireth to roll hot!

It was fun to run the game this way. It also makes me rethink ways I might make ATTACK cards. I like the idea of vehicles/mounts that repurpose the power/grace/instinct die rolls. I didn't actually consider how a simple system would add variety.

Glad we're testing this before I designed ATTACK cards!

Is there some sort of way to do a sense motive check on spider-lady? Kell wants to try to make sure she isn't looking for a non-metal snack.

Is the difficulty x3, or do I roll and you decide in secret?

Roll 4X3.

The die rolls are simulating how I'd envision custom dice if I were to actually make them. (And… physical objects are less confusing than weird codes, though I think I can live with these since it's just as many characters to type as "#d20".)

nX3 means you roll n dice for attack/skill:
1, 2 = fail
3, 4, 5 = success
6 = double success

nE5 means you roll n dice for defense:
1, 2, 3, 4 = fail
5, 6 = success

Actual dice:
2 shields
3 single swords
1 pair of crossed swords

So nE5 when you want shields, nX3 when you want swords.

As a side note, I'm conveniently twisting some of the Greek Mythology to make Artemis and Athena less assholish than other Olympians.

Mostly, I'm changing myths that I feel are inconsistent with their behaviors or are consistent with another Olympian's behavior. In the case of Callisto, some myths have Artemis turning her into a bear and others Hera. But I say Hera because it's Hera who turns people into animals. Artemis just shoots people. And she's the protector of young girls, so blaming the victim (Callisto) is just stupid.

Athena gets the blame for Medusa and Arachne, but I'm blaming Hera because, again, turning people into animals her thing. That or I keep making it her thing. It's her thing according to this game's story, anyway.

Blaming Hera for Medusa and Arachne doesn't really make sense to me. Arachne specifically went up against Athena in a weaving contest, iirc, and poor Medusa had the bad luck to be r*ped in Athena's temple. I don't see why Hera would be involved in either scenario. (Especially because it wasn't Zeus violating someone, for once! That was Poseidon!)

@tbgg -- Kell and Sigrlinn are both wearing different, steampunky outfits.

Our heroines also get a look at each other. Sigrlinn looks like Sigrlinn, not a wingless fairy. Both wear odd bronze outfits, and Sigrlinn even has a hat on to match her pantsuit. Kell's blouse is similar to Sigrlinn's, but she has a miniskirt with thigh high boots. Both heroines are unarmed.

Well… a lot about Greek Mythology doesn't make a lick of sense.

Aphrodite's pettiness totally makes sense. She's the sex goddess. She screws whoever she wants to. So even with her as one of the "good ones," I'm not messing with that.

Artemis being the protector of little girls and then killing seven girls because their mother bragged about how many children she has is a petty motive for murder.

Athena is the goddess of wisdom and blames Poseidon's victim. And Arachne bested Athena in a sewing contest. (I realize Arachne's tapestry made fun of the gods, but so what? How wise can you be if you can't outwit a mortal with a better joke?)

Even for Apollo, who I have as a "bad guy," I think stripping the skin off a satyr over a music contest is ridiculous. All of the Olympians are assholes to a degree, but they really get pretty dark for little things and some of the goddesses are damsels in distress even though they're super powerful.

That's probably the worst Artemis story: Aura gropes her in the bath and comments on the roundness of her breasts, so she just stands there letting this goddess fondle her and question her virginity to her face, making implications about her and Athena. Artemis gets a man to solve her problem! Yeah. That's what Artemis would do. You can probably guess what Dionysus does to Aura while she's too drunk to refuse him.

Oh……… one more thing about Hera. The reason I don't mind the Queen of the Olympians doing the petty crap that I didn't like Athena doing is because Hera has a good reason to be broken. She was goddess of marriage before her brother decided to… redefine their relationship. I imagine she was as chaste as Hestia at the time. She was Zeus' first victim, and she's been tortured (hung from the sky) for starting rebellions.

I'm taking liberties, including Zeus actually being lobotomized from Athena being born in his brain—hence the broken forehead when you saw him in the clouds. Hera is a battered woman in a position where haughtiness is a defense mechanism.

What she does to Zeus' other victims in inexcusable to me, but Kell's not totally off for pitying her. She's a victim and a villain.

Hey LS, just so you know, I'm having a really hard time telling what the Amazon in your picture is doing. I see the two swords and that her foot is in the air, and the pointy things are either stalagtites/stalagmites or teeth. What's confusing me the most is the thing that points rear and down. It looks like a pencil to me, though a closer examination suggests maybe a scabbard for the swords? Is it positioned that way for modesty's sake, since she's basically doing the standing splits?

I do love the coloring, though, especially the red and purple in the background.

I think the Amazon is stabbing some kind of monster in the bottom jaw and the roof of its mouth (hence the red; it's bleeding all over). And the pencil-shaped thing does seem to be a scabbard. Very likely positioned there for modesty too. ^^

Well I think the mouth vs. cave question could be helped pretty easily by adding lips, so it's clearer those pointy things are in a mouth. Maybe even show traces of a tongue, if it's not too obscured by blood - or make it a forked tongue that sticks out past the teeth.

As to the modesty issue, I could make some suggestions, but I don't want LS to feel like I'm telling him how to do his artwork. That wouldn't be cool!

The scabbard is for consistency, since it's in all her dual wield drawings. She has a sort of dress so the butt's covered. (I know because I drew without scabbards first.)

I did consider a tongue, but given the standing splits... I thought that might make an implication I don't want.

She's supposed to be stabbing a monster that's trying to eat her. She's keeping the mouth pried open with unrealistic leg strength. I'll post the card later, which has a completed gum outline. The ability is Dual Strike.....

....and I'm redoing ability text, given the way we actually played so far. Our play test is giving me a much clearer picture than what I had playtesting by myself. (Again, thanks to you both!)
