Well and Leto are reunited, so pick your destination.

At the moment, you don't know of any way to earn money so all of the van Donk sisters can assist you. I'm guessing (in-game) you're still going with the plan to have a party of six armed and ready, and (out-of-game) you've assumed you can't just waltz up to the volcano top where the end-boss monster patiently awaits his demise at your hands. (And now that I said that, it is tempting to have a monster who just sits there twiddling his thumbs when you arrive to kill him. Don't worry… I do try not to cross the line between bat-guano insane and immersion-breaking.)

Anyway, I'll let your characters talk out where to go first. @tbgg, what you PM'd me is one possibility. Fairy Spring is another. When you move along the not-actually-square-shaped island, you can't move to a diagonal grid in one go. That is, if you post "we're off to Fairy Spring," I might have an encounter in Palm Spring. Random encounters are not necessarily hostile. (Fairy honeymooners that were affected by Kell, for example.)

Anyway, you're RP'ing adventurers, so consider the mansion route option #3.

One more thing... I'll try to post at least once a day as long as there's a player post to work with, but there's a two-day event I need to prepare for and attend this week, so the game's pace will slow down this week.

Silly me… I forgot to consider that if the amazon barely fits, Helix doesn't!

Added a part for Helix to clarify this, and how Helix will find Kell again. (Helix's Kell-detecting horn might be something the heroines can use… who knows?)

Arg, ninja'd again! Now I have to edit since everything Kell did made Leto's words redundant. Well, that was a waste of a nice powerful post. :p

@tbgg, all of the suggested attacks will work. If you don't direct Helix, he'll mix it up and try goring next.

Bumbling doesn't mean he's a screw up. I just make him sound like one when die rolls allow. In this case, he landed a solid blow and so did the chief. Instead of hit and hit-back, I wrote a bumbling sidekick version of the same result (damage-wise). Sidekicks also start with OK, so even though Helix just took a 4HP hit, it's no different than if he lost 1HP because I just erase the "OK" part.

OK, I'm confused. I thought Helix raced around the volcano while the girls went through the cave, that Kell summoned the bats and sent them toward the girl, that Leto beast-spoke the bats and her consciousness joined them, Kell thought to Helix to rescue the girl, Helix did so, but Kell is still lagging behind with Bridgette and Leto's body. So basically the chase involves the unknown girl riding Helix and Leto's consciousness with the white bat but about to try to jump to one of the horses. The only good Kell can really do is to think instructions to Helix, and maybe if she's really lucky, summon a few more animals to help out in the chase (not sure of what distance her Charm Animal spell works at). I assume her staff won't work at the distance between Kell and Helix\Leto\girl.

Or did I misunderstand something?

Whoops, I mistakenly lumped Kell together with Helix and the unknown woman in my last post! My bad.

Both players are commanding animals. The kidnapping attempt was right at the cave entrance, and there's a hitching post outside (not really for the handicapped—it's just a really good parking spot). So now all Kell can do is boss Helix around and all Leto can do is take over animals' minds.

Oh… I also left a note telling you if a choice requires a roll. Normally, I'll roll sidekicks, but since you're piloting him remotely, I'll let you make your own luck! (If you prefer.)

@tbgg, I hope you don't feel like Kell's useless because she's not directly involved. She is actually making the best decisions she can. Slugging it out with the chief might have resulted in a KO'd unicorn and kidnapped girl. Helix wouldn't have thought to give the girl a ride, which gives him better odds of success.

You basically had four possible adventures: the Palm Spring route, the mansion route, and two ways for the cave to work based on how fast you decide to move. Since you moved slow enough to protect the tourists, you are too slow to rescue the girl. Only you surprised me with the cave bat idea and rolled in the 10+ range. I couldn't ignore that, so instead of stumbling onto evidence of a kidnapping, including some dead tourists who would have tried to prevent it, you get to STILL rescue the teenager through the animals.

So in fact, Kell's decisions just prevented innocent deaths and are now likely to thwart a kidnapping. Whatever tragic thing I had planned takes a back seat if player decisions can prevent tragedy.

@Ireth, you already experienced both special conditions for beast-speaking!

Tie roll - trapped in beast's mind until...?

I roll snake-eyes - Unless you roll a 1, you are in the beast's mind and free to jump to other animals. If you roll a 1 or I roll a 12, you're out. You may get forced out if the animal you're in gets KO'd, and a losing roll may put you in an animal you weren't aiming at!

You roll double-six (11) - Unless I roll a 12, same as above.

@LS:

I assume the horse's leg will need to be reset first. What if Alexa stands at Sunny's head to help keep the animal calm and Leto beast-speaks the horse to help it understand? Then Kell and the farmer can reset the broken bone and they can apply a bandage from the healing kit. Would you allow this for a horse healing?
