I write fantasy noir. Don't know if that's a genre yet, but hoping it will catch on. I like knowing the genre of a book, helps me steer clear of vampires and werewolves and happy-ever-afters.

I got *yelled* at for referring to my MS as 'contemporary fantasy' by a contributor of a contest. The critic said, "There is no such thing as CF. Impossible."
