Ung… I kinda felt that one.

No worries, Baldy. Look!

Yes! Rydh rushes in to help! His blade strikes true!

"Now we've got you!"

"Will you die already! I want my roasted baby harpy!"

[I guess there is no hope for a good roll, my luck has been Mauve'd.]

"Did someone hopefully, pick up a longbow? I will need it." I call out.

{{maybe if I spelled amputation right, I might have hit.}}

Watching everyone as they try to pin down the harpies, I grit my teeth and clamp my hand over the wound across my stomach and ribcage. First Aid. The wound stops bleeding, and I rip the hem of my cloak before tying it around my torso to keep anything else from contaminating it.

Batos turns his head around to look at Darin when the dwarf started coughing up water. Strangely, a mischievous glint came to his eyes, and before anyone could try to guess at what he was going to do he nipped the dwarf'd ear. Not hard enough to break the skin, but enough to catch Darin's attention.

I smiled at Batos as i saw what he did. Knowing him, he would end up in a bit of trouble, but he should be fine. But when i glanced towards the ledge, i frowned and took up my staff.

If there's anything in there, we need to put them down. I thought, dropping to the water and heading towards the ledge, avoiding catching anyone's attention by staying in the shadows. Only I coud hide so well, having avoided others my whole life until recently.

This creatures is either dead or will be soon. The other has taken to flight. Without a weapon I'm almost useless. I begin to scan the room, perhaps I can find a good stone to throw. Or something else good for throwing.

The creature is clearly attempt to fly once more, and its wing raise for a forceful stroke that will propel it higher into the air.

((Everyone around this harpy with melee weapons can get one more attack in before it is out of range)).

Oh, no, ya don't, witch!

Having reached the end of his song, Algernon hollers: "Feel the love!" He swings his arms wide, hammers still in them, lunges, and…

…fumbles his grappling attempt, slipping on slimy rock beneath the filthy water at his feet.

Okay, guess she does.

Clearly, it's Algernon who needs the hug at the moment. :(

((Only reason I don't feel stupid about that is that if he'd simply attacked with his hammer, the result would have been a 4 rather than an 8.…))

((Well, hopefully he isn't spitting sewage, at least.))

There is a flurry of activity around the harpy who is surrounded and trying to fly away. Ankari and Aliron attack, but the creature is twisting furiously, attempting to get airborne, and their attacks miss the frantic creature. Mauve thrusts upward at the thing, connected with it. It's not a powerful blow, but it is all the creature can handle, and it's wings stiffen as it crashes into the water. As it falls, Algernon grabs hold of the unconscious form and bears it to the water, retaining his grab as the creature is submerged, its blood mingling with the water. A few bubbles rise from the harpy's mouth, indicating it is still alive and trying to breath, but there is no life left in its limbs.

((No charge; Mauve is too close. Even with Algernon's roll, he can grab the unconscious harpy, so he has it)).

Darin rises to wobbly feet after Rydh's last heal. He is shaky, but he nods at Cadell and motions him to join in the fight. The dwarf seems dazed, as though not quite away of his surroundings, and he motions in the wrong direction. Seeing the dwarf is up, Rydh rushes to Baldhart's side and thrusts at the harpy, scoring a blow across one of her outstretched arms and producing more blood flow from the creature, who looks the worse for battle.

((Please assume Rydh is directly below the harpy. The map shows him in the wrong spot)).

Matthew casts his gaze around, looking for a weapon. There is nothing visible in the immediate area, the only items of note in the cavern being the small cage and the pile of bones on the other side of the water.

Baldhart attacks again, but even though the harpy she fights is bleeding profusely, the creature has enough left in her to dodge the attack and counter with one of her own:

Harpy Attack [1d20+3] = 5+3 = 8

The attack misses and the creature draws back, pressing itself against the wall as it angles its dagger for another lunge.

Keitsumah makes her way through the cold water to the thin rocky shore near the ledge. It's about thirty feet up to the ledge itself, and the wall is sheet, much of the stone protrusions that define the wall of the cavern having been hacked away to provide a more foreboding surface. She hears movement on the ledge though - a faint shuffling and dragging sound, nothing more. She can see nothing on the ledge from her vantage point.

"You're welcome!" I do I small mocking bow to the elves and turn, walking in the singer's direction; if they answered I don't know.
Baldhart is hurt, and it doesn't look like a light wound.

No way I'm going to openly confront this thing!

I have to chose from two courses of action now, both dangerous. I change my direction, tiptoeing towards the door, stopping still in the line of sight of the harpy.

((Nope. She was as discreet as an elephant.))

Taking a deep breath, I wave my bloodied spear and shout to the thing, "HEY, GUESS TO WHOM BELONGS THIS BLOOD! DID YOU LIKE THE ROPE? WAIT UNTIL I PRESENT YOU MY SPEAR!" I tense my muscles, ready to evade any attack.

((As expected. xD))

((Okay. Evade stance again, she stopped on second square from right to left, the middle one.))

Darin is on his feet, but unsteady. As he motions for me to join in the fight, I shake my head. "I cannot. I lent Rydh my sword. I have no other weapon. Let's just get you to drier ground." I lead him carefully toward the edge of the water, where we entered the cavern. Again I pray that nothing will swoop down from the ledge.

Baldhart's POV ((It's raining natural 20s! Congrats on the roll! xD))

Mauve... distracting my opponent?

No! I won't let her risk it all for me.

Then don't miss, Baldy.

I won't!

I look up at the ledge warilly, wondering what to do when the sound of something scrabbling high above makes me tense. But nothing comes out, and I press myself against the wall.

Flicking my wrist and touching two fingers to the amethyst necklace i wore, I sent a mental call to Batos, Come.

The wolf burst up out of the water as if his tail was on fire, leaving Darin and Cadell on their own as the two men made their way towards the shore. But with the water hampering his movements, it would take a bit for him to get here.

Hmm . . . now how am I going to get at what's up there? I wondered, glancing up at the ledge again and the shadowy forms moving just out of my sight-line. I didn't have enough energy for more than one spell, and using one woud be risky enough besides. But if i flooded the top...

Only as a last resort. I decided, turning and sitting on a rock. But i kept my staff at the ready, one hand on my bandaged wound. Until Batos arrived, I shouldn't do anything that might threaten my life.

Baldhart's strike does drop the creature, even as Rydh take a final jab at the harpy. The harpy crumples into her feather and tumbles to into a heap on the ground. Her breathing is shallow. Like the other harpy, she lives, but just barely. As she fell, she cast a final, hateful glance in Mauve's direction.

Looking over the room, the other harpy is pinned if not dead.
Wolf girl has my bow, and is under the ledge.
The wall doesn't look that tough, as I rub my cheek on my shoulder, then glance at the blood I just wiped on the clothes.

A new scar, not like I was handsome to begin with, I look at the shoulder, neither is bleeding.
So moving quickly through the water I move to wolf girl.

"I need my bow, and I think we should see whats on the ledge, maybe valubles, maybe eggs or babies. I can climb it and lower a rope."
{{{Hey everyone watch me fall into the mud! written before I go to rolz.}}}

The battle being finished for now, I walk back over to Cadell and Darin while keeping the shadows on the ledge in my peripheral vision. One can never be too careful...

Darin seems dazed, but otherwise alright. I turn to Cadell. "Thank you for the use of your sword, Sir Knight," I say as I present it back to him. I take a quick glance at Darin, then look back to Cadell. "Looks like you'll get to use it again, eh?"

I then look around, making sure no one else is in earshot before I whisper to Cadell. "Um, you haven't seen my sword laying around anywhere, have you? I seem to have misplaced it."

((I'm in a hurry, I'll read and post or not Mauve's POV later while I'm in a waiting room.))

Baldhart's POV

"Rydh? Can you patch her up? She's still breathing." I look up to the nest. "She has children up there. Don't waste magic, but... can you save them both? Leave them unconscious with me. I'll wake them and talk. The song does nothing to me. Please. There's a rope... and I killed lizards that can feed the children in the nest, if that's what they are.

"I just don't feel quite right about finishing her off..."

Sparkie

Dark Lord
Baldhart interrupts my conversation with Cadell to suggest the most stupid thing I've heard her say yet. 'Don't waste magic, but save them both?' What is she thinking?!?

I have to restrain myself from shouting at her. Instead, I walk back over to her and motion toward the rather obvious reason why we should not leave these creatures alive. "Take a good, hard look at that pile of bones over there before you say another word to me. Those are people, Baldhart. People! People who had their lives taken from them by these demonic sirens. If you are right and these things have babies, it's more than likely they fed these people to their young. I'll not spare a murderer to ease your conscience, nor will I use a healing spell on these foul hags when we have others who deserve it far more than our attackers. Don't speak of it to me again!"

I spin on my heel and march over to the wolf-girl. I'm all too aware of how spiteful this might seem to everyone who paid any attention to my little outburst just now, but this little lady was wounded badly in the fight. I take the girl's hand gently and say "Hold still." I let flow the power...

Rydh heals Keitsumah 1 HP

...But my anger overwhelms my intentions. I drop the girl's hand and offer an apologetic shrug before stalking off down the hall in search of my sword.

How dare she! How could Baldhart even suggest such an idea? Can she even comprehend what that harpy did to the rest of us? If I described the profane vision that was put into my mind by the song, would Baldhart even care? Somehow I doubt it. All she seems to care about lately is getting her way.

No, no, no. That's not true. I'm just angry. Let it pass, and things will get better.

I wander into the room with the cage where the wolf-girl was trapped. I look around for my sword...

((I think Rydh's sword is still in this room. If it is, he'll retrieve it. If not, well, does anybody else have it?))

Ireth

Mythic Scribe
I take my sword back from Rydh and sheathe it, but before I can answer his question, Baldhart speaks. Her request is confusing, to say the least. Heal these monsters so they may try to slaughter us or others again?

"Rydh is right, Baldhart. These harpies would have killed us all, and nearly did kill some of us." I gesture to Darin. "They do not deserve to be healed. We should leave this place, and leave them be. If they die, that is well. If they live, which I deem unlikely, then at least we will be far from them."

Nihal

Valar Lord
I can read Baldhart's lips well enough to know how her request sounds absurd. Judging by her dying glare,p the first thing the bigger harpy would do would be to attack me.

Her heart is too soft.

I have some trouble hearing their reponses, muffled by my ears' ringing. Heading towards her, I retrieve my rope and answer, "It is not an good idea. She will kill us."

I look down to my stink clothes and sigh, feeling the cold water biting my skin again. Turning around, I finally check how the others fared. "We still have berries." I shake the bag.

((I don't know how many, Mauve ate three.))
