Ch.5L: "Lost Souls" / Sigrlinn at the PlatBot Mansion

[Ireth]

Sigrlinn nods. "I feel worse for Kell, honestly. At least in my case I know this was an accident, not something anyone did on purpose. Kell's soul was put into Kell-Pi's body to save her, but they didn't really give her any say in the matter, judging by the way Kell tore into Heph when she woke up."

She looks at Penni with a smile. "It is nice to get the chance to learn new skills, though. I don't know if I'll ever be able to use them again once I have my own body back, but learning for the sake of learning is good too. I hope I get to visit here again when all this fighting is over."

 

[Legendary Sidekick]

An alarm sounds off.

"Lovely," says Dimki.

Nikki says, "Can't Mile-High Five handle this?"

"Not without Kell-Pi."

Penni asks, "Can I come?"

Dimki pats her on the head and says, "It only takes two to fly S4M-U5. We're on it kid."

The two gray iMaidens make a hasty exit.

 

[Ireth]

Sigrlinn jumps at the alarm and looks at Penni with wide eyes. "What's that for? It's not because Apollo's trying to attack, is it?"

 

[Legendary Sidekick]

"He wouldn't come at night," Penni says.

Suddenly there is a very loud sound—and a rumble from directly above.


((Okay—so the custom die I'm considering would have 2 shields on it, 3 swords, and 1 pair of crossed swords. So for defense, you'd roll the shields. For virtual dice, roll E5. Meaning each die has a 33.3% chance of defending you. Bad odds with one die; favorable with four.

Sigrlinn looks toward the roof, her body tensing. That sounds like thunder, and that means Zeus. He's not gonna be happy if he realizes his targets escaped him alive.

 

[Legendary Sidekick]

You and Penni zip out of the way a split second before the ceiling collapses. The fairy-sized hall is no more.

"Well, the Sim-You-Later's busted now. But at least we're okay. Dimki and Nikki will protect us, right?"

She asks this as if you would know.

 

[Ireth]

Sigrlinn can only shrug. "I hope so."

She thinks of Kell again, trapped in a body made of metal, and prays she won't be struck by lightning. Again.

"What do we do now?"

 

[Legendary Sidekick]

There is an explosion. A part of the mansion is destroyed. Fortunately, you are not in it.

Penni says, "Oh dear... your friend ran off will Kell-Pi's body. Mile-High Five can't be formed without it. Doesn't she know if the mansion blows up her body will die?"

"I have an idea! Follow me!"

Whether you follow Penni or not, she says, "Oh! I have two ideas! I can use my com-link to talk to Kelleia. If you have a message for her, I'll send it."

 

[Ireth]

Sigrlinn runs after Penni. "Tell Kell she needs to come back, if she isn't already! And if she is, she should hurry!"

 

[Legendary Sidekick]

Penni says, "Um... good news! She's moving toward her nymph body. Should we meet her there?"

 

[Ireth]

"Ja! Good plan!" She just prays they won't be too late!

 

[Legendary Sidekick]

When you get to the lab, you find Kell sleeping and Heph busily repairing something. It's Nikki! Her legs were blown off in the attack!

Dimki, who is missing an arm, assures Penni, "She'll live. But I'm afraid she won't be flying the mission. I'd ask you to be my copilot, Penni. But it's suicide. With one arm, I won't be able to pull away from an attack in time. You've seen how hard it is to make sudden moves on the sim..."

"Yeah," says Penni. "And so has Sigrlinn! And she's like the best pilot ever. Let us fly High Five."

She turns to you. "You'll do it, right? Help me beat the big poop who blew up my friends?"

 

[Ireth]

Sigrlinn gasps at the sight of Nikki and Dimki, both of whom are missing limbs. When Penni asks her to be her co-pilot, she barely hesitates. "Of course I will."

 

[Legendary Sidekick]

"Let's do this!" Penni shouts.

Heph says, "You do realize the big poop you're after is Apollo."

"Uh huh," Penni says. She looks to Dimki.

Dimki gives a thumbs up with her remaining arm and says, "Do us proud, kid."

You notice Heph is in a normal chair. His hovering chair is not in the lab.

When you look at the knife, you see yourself walking alongside Brunhild.

You ask her what good it does to fight a god. "A god can't be killed," you say.

"Not easily," she says. "However, as long as we have mortal bodies, our bodies can be destroyed. We can create new ones, of course. We Asgardians regulate this power through Baldur, god of light.

"Loki has in fact killed Baldur several times. An odd target. Even Loki himself admitted the only was Baldur would remain in the spirit realm would be if he believed he was better off dead.

"Between you and me, Baldur is rather gullible. But Loki has yet to trick him out of his own ability to resurrect."
