Our heroines take the chance, knowing there are over one hundred spiders remaining. 110 to be exact. The nymphs take out 45 of them on the first volley, while Sigrlinn freezes ten!
With 55 spiders remaining, the nymphs attack--again with the benefit of Kell's and Sigrlinn's combined magic! The nymphs freeze all but six of them. Sigrlinn's arrows freeze them, leaving four arrows to repeatedly strike the last spider. Half of its legs snap off, and its icy prison is bloodied.
Rose turns around to see a frozen stream of web aimed in her direction. As the nymphs look up, they notice thirty other spiders had also launched attacks which were cut off by the ice arrows. Had the ladies fired off just a few less arrows, would anyone have survived the web attack?
Lily answers the unspoken question: "The nice thing about winning a battle is not having to ask 'what if.' Can we get out of here now?"
Phoebe is sitting up now, with Sapphire and Violet offering support. The rest of Artemis' nymphs have their oars in hand.
But once the nymphs start rowing, they notice that they are moving faster than usual, and with little effort.
Once past the spiders (who thaw, but move slowly and not in the direction of our heroines), Heather asks if anyone would like to row. Rose asks our heroines their names.
Susan replies, "We were gradually picked by Artemis, just Rose, Lily and I at first. Then Rose and I got Ivy and Violet to join, and Lily actually met Heather while hunting on her own."
Heather says, "We get to see the world from a bird's eye view. I'm not much of a hunter, but I love rowing the moon boat!"
Rose says, "There are ten different groups who take the boat. We'll land in the valley between Lesvos and Sardis. It will be near dusk, but don't worry. We won't see the sun."
The fairies are especially excited when they fly over Lesvos. There is a fairy village in the valley, but our heroines fail to see the tiny houses as they fly over. They do notice some kentaurides racing through a grassy field, a mermaid and naiad in a lake together, and a flock together of harpies flying by the moon boat. Heather waves to the harpies. They don't look friendly, but they aren't hostile either.
Soon the boat sinks into a fog. It appears our heroines will soon land...
((I'll assume Kell cast this while still under the world.))
The wave dance spell creates water around the boat. While it floats no faster than it does with Ride of the Valkyrie alone, there is a benefit: Helix is able to swim alongside the boat.
Heather stops rowing so she can reach out and pet him, at least until Lily asks her not to lean over the side.
