The demon sinks its teeth into Leto ((10 damage!)) but she blasts her way out, shooting the demon's uvula! The beast screams in agony!

It grabs Sonja ((4 damage)), but her sisters hack the arm off before it can crush her! The molten lava cools to brittle stone and crumbles into dust. Vin is swatted by the other arm ((6 damage)), but Ben and Jerry fill it full of holes. Helix and the Phoenix each slash the demon's throat, and now that Kell is armored, she grabs a spear...

Once she's out of the demon's mouth, Leto finds her footing again and takes aim at the head one more time. Hopefully another shot or two will finish the creature.

Kell glances at her friend with concern. Time to wipe this thing out before it harms any more of the most wounded.

She leaps up onto the demon, trusting her grace and poise to help her keep her balance. With a mighty heave, she thrusts at back of the thing's neck.

The van Donks and the grooms hack off the other arm. As for the head, Helix and the phœnix do minimal damage, but Leto fired off two shots from her hand cannon. Kell skewers the lava demon in the back of the neck. As the creature looks up and screams a deadly beam of fire, Kell leaps down on it and rams her burning spear into its missing eye.

There is an explosion! And for a moment, our heroines can't see anything but thick, black smoke!

Kell feels around and finds Leto. She is weak from damage, but the bleeding seems to have stopped…


((Lava Demon is dead; more to come tomorrow…))

Leto falls to her knees, coughing in the thick smoke. Someone's hand brushes against her, and she manages to croak out, "Who is that?"

Coughing herself, Kell manages, "It's Kell, Leto. Can you walk?"

If the mountain's not about to blow, I need to get everyone together and use a Health Roll. If I can talk well enough to call everyone together.

She wants desperately to go check on Vin and just hold him, but figures there will be time enough for that once they are sure the immediate threat is over.

"I think so." Leto leans on Kell as she climbs to her feet again, pain shooting through her. Thank goodness for her armor, or it might be even worse. "Are you hurt badly?"

Kell lends Leto her strength as she rises to her feet and then just hugs her friend, knowing it will strengthen both of them. She says into Leto's ear, "For a nymph crazy enough to start this fight in the nude, not badly at all. I think Sonja took more damage than I did."

And when I see Vin I am going to hug him SO tight. But I'd better check on Helix. That fireball scorched him pretty good.

She thinks to him, Hey Sidekick - are you still standing?

((Oops... I forgot to describe the warning shot. It makes this sticky laveder-colored material--a marshmallow-like foam--which traps enemies inside. So there are three masked men just kinda stuck in all that goop.))

Helix replies, I'm fine, not that he really is. But Sonja's hurtin'. Her big sis got her up on my back. I can get her outta here but... anything you can do for her?

As Kell reaches into her purse, she indeed finds the health roll she's thinking about. The smoke is thick, and she can feel the heat of lava bleeding out of the demon. It's not safe to move blindly, but the health roll should work on Leto and others in need.

((Since your characters brought it up, you get a second to heal. One or both of you can break a health roll on your next post.

Leto's down to 2hp. You get 10hp per roll, so using both is full health for Leto even if you both roll snake eyes.))

((+10 HP to Leto [12/22hp], Helix, Sonja and Vin. Jenny and Colleen are OK. Kell has 22/22hp.

I'll give Leto a chance to use her health roll as well. This will give her 22hp; she just won't have the "OK" that gives a free hit.))

Kell's health roll makes Leto feel significantly better, but not nearly OK. She digs in her purse and pulls out her own health roll to make up the difference.

Once both health rolls are broken, Leto feels she is at full strength again. Helix sends Kell a message confirming that all are well. I'm gonna get Sonja outta here now. Everyone's moving down, and Vin and Bridgette are here to guide you and Leto as soon as…

There is a rumbling! Before Helix can even finish his thought, the ground crumbles beneath Kell and Leto! They are falling into the volcano!

((Roll ACROBATICS to land safely!))

Our heroines land on solid ground, though not very gracefully. They are surrounded by bubbling, bright orange lava. Above, Vin is dangling over the lava. Bridgette is hanging onto him.

"Kell," he shouts, "are you alright down there?"

The four entangled men are also dangling, but by their necks from Kell's magic vines. On a flat rock surrounded by lava is the corpse of the chief. His knife is nowhere to be seen; his mask is off, as is the skin of his face. His exposed skull still has eyes in its sockets, staring straight up out of the volcano.

The lava is slowly edging closer to Kell and Leto's feet. They can easily step from one stone to the next, but there's little point moving around if all of the floors are temporary.

((Roll PERCEPTION to find your way outta here!
@Ireth, your breel armor gives you +2 perception so you can roll #2d6+3.))

In the confusion, Leto just can't find a way to safely get off these stepping stones.

Luckily, Kell sees two ways out. One way will require leaping over lava. The jump is far, but not impossible. ((Acrobatics req'd!)) Of course, failure to make the jump won't exactly be painless.

The other way is blocked by a boulder, but the two heroines might be able to move it together. ((Strength req'd!)) This second route is on a good sized ledge away from the lava. Failure to move the boulder won't result in being burned.

Our heroines have a few seconds to agree on a path as they hop from stone to stone...
