Kell wields the spear with the hand she's not using to hold onto Leto with.

"This is gonna be quite a ride, I think..."

((Tie roll--it's a quickdraw!))

Leto needs to time her attack to avoid the claws. She's a little slow on the draw, but the breel is equally slow in its attempt to grab the pair. The claw shaves some feathers from Leto's swan cloak. ((Not OK)) But the huntress' cloak shields her nymph companion, who holds on for dear life as the grappler gun zips them up to the breel.

Neither Leto nor Kell has the acrobatic talent required to volley oneself to the top of the beast. However, the breel is covered in lively tendrils from Kell's magic. The plants grab hold of our heroines, guiding them to Wu Chen.

"Oh, how you get up here, Leto? You are tenth maste of wire-fu?"

Wu Chen delivers another punch.

"I think I almost kill it!"

Leto gasps as the grappler zips them up to the breel, and vines carry them up to where Wu Chen is. She grins as she answers the nun's question. "We had a little help from Wallace the Wall."

Leto draws the knife Buck gave her, and stabs at the breel's hide, searching for a weak point.

The spear digs in deep, boring itself into the breel's head... it turns at it plunges into the breel's head and keeps going! The four-foot-spear penetrates six feet into the breel. Once it leaves Kell's hand, she is hit by a spray of acid. ((2 damage)) But the heroines can see the spear has penetrated the brain!

Leto scalps the breel at the same time! She also takes acid damage ((2 damage)), but she and Kell are both officially wyvern-slayers!

"Looks like it shall die," says Wu Chen. "But we are very high up. I fail to see how we can survive this. That is why I came up here alone."

The breel starts to lose altitude...

"Ground coming up quickly!" exclaims Kell. "How many people does that cloak of yours support, Leto? And Wu Chen, can you wire down safely? I suppose I can try to call some birds, though it'll take a lot of them to carry me."

Wu Chen notices the feathered cloak. She shakes her head, "I do not know if we can all fly, but my wire can do nothing without place to grab hold of, and I do not think you can call one million birds. I see two solutions then.

"Leto, you save yourself, or you and Kell. Or Kell and I each take one hand and we jump together. I do as you wish."

Leto

Leto has no idea how Kell knew about her cloak -- she's never mentioned its ability, after all -- but brushes it off as a panicked assumption from the nymph. To Wu Chen she says, "I've never tested the cloak while holding another person before. We might need something to land on... Kell, do you think you could make another tree to break our fall?"

Wu Chen says, "Okay, I am in on this crazy plan. Leto provides wings, Kell provides plant to grab on with my wire-fu, and my wire will help control fall.

"So we hold hands and jump? Kell, create your plant on my side. We land in the water. The plant needs to be something my wire can grab. Tree like that in town center would be nice."

Kell says, "I can't really do trees. That one that led us to Buck was a special favor from Demeter, it seems. But I might be able to lay some more vines and shrubs that Wu Chen's wires can connect to."

And Kell grabs her staff to call forth LOTS and LOTS of entangled vines for Wu Chen's Wire-Fu magic to make use of. Kelleia:2D6 → 7(1 +6)#Kell uses staff to grow plants to cushion their fall

"Here's to hoping I was quick enough."

((It seems LS ninja'd me, so I edited my plan accordingly.))

There is a burst at the edge of Kell's wand. Periwinkles sprout from her leafy armor, and from the plants that cling to the dying breel. A bouquet of various blue and purple flowers remain in full bloom at the tip of Kell's staff. The flowers writhe like snakes on Medusa's head, a hive-mind searching in all directions at once. Unlike Medusa, Kelleia is not connected to the 'hive.' She can only guess at what the plants are doing...

The nun seems satisfied with this magic. "I suppose this spell will do," she says. "We cannot stay here much longer."

Wu Chen was watching Kell as she fought alongside her. Which of Leto's hands she takes depends on Kell's dominant hand. If Kell is right-handed, Wu Chen will take Leto's right hand. If Kell's a lefty, the nun will take Leto's left. Either way, she wants the nymph to hang on with her dominant hand. Wire-Fu is only mastered by the ambidextrous, so the nun has no concerns regarding her own grip—especially after drinking the sake.

In fact, she offers some to Kell. "You have cast your spell. Even if you feel tipsy, you will have strong grip."

To Leto, she says with a smile, "I suggest you fly sober."

((After both players respond, I'll post the crash scene.

Ireth, please roll acrobatics. #2d6+1

, please accept the sake and roll #2d6+1 or refuse the sake. But then you need to roll #2d6 for strength! You don't need a strength roll if you drink the sake, even if you get drunk since the STR bonus is greater than the drunkenness penalty.

NOTE: Leto doesn't need the sake as long as those taking her hand have the STR bonus. And Leto probably shouldn't risk drunkenness since she needs the best acro roll she can get. It'll combine with Wu Chen's roll, so hopefully my luck changes…))

Leto nods in agreement at the suggestion that she avoid the sake, and takes a deep breath when her friends grip her hands. When the time is right, she leaps, her feathered cloak billowing like the wings of a swan... or a valkyrie.

If Kell refuses the drink, Wu Chen will insist that Kell drink the sake, as it is basically an alcoholic strength potion that will save her life... assuming the rest of the crazy plan works.

Kell takes the sake, but says uncertainly, "I don't know about this. I don't seem to hold my alcohol very well at all." But she gamely drinks the sake.

"I'm right-handed, if you were wondering."

The drink seems to affect Kell almost instantaneously. She says in a small voice, "Uh oh."

The three heroines join hands and jump together.

Once underneath the breel, Kell can see that the plants hanging from the breel have grown considerably. Perhaps the potent drink is affecting Kell's perception... But apparently, Wu Chen sees this too. She uses her wire to grab onto the plant.

An electric current extends outward from the nun's wrist to the breel...! Its eyes glow white and the brain-dead beast attempts a roar--but only emits a pathetic wheeze through its punctured throat.

Leto's wings hold firm as the three women coast to the sea far below. The breel is in pursuit, its terrible round maw closing in!

The violets on Kell's staff face the sea. A giant sea cucumber erupts from the water. It is at least a hundred feet tall! There is a character on the sea cucumber, similar to the characters Kell and Leto saw when Wu Chen first appeared on the Hearthvision.

Wu Chen uses her wire to swing our heroines well out of the breel's reach. The hydrangeas on Kell's staff summon another sea cucumber, this one only about ninety feet tall and a little more plump than the first. Another character is written on this cucumber. Wu Chen utters a single syllable for each character she reads.

The breel bites but misses as Wu Chen swings everyone to safety. Leto can feel the wind repeatedly changing direction, as if conflicted about a mortal having the audacity to fly. A gust at her back eases her flight--another gust stings her eyes and slows her!

More sea cucumbers aid our heroines. Wu Chen has read a character on each cucumber. She repeats the sentence. The last sea cucumber appears close to shore. This one fifty feet in both height and diameter, with a hole through the middle hollow. Our heroines are headed straight for the hole. It is about five feet high and twenty feet wide! Wu Chen does not swing on this one.

Instead, our heroines spread their arms and stay still as Leto steers them toward the hole. The wind guides her...

...then another blows back. Leto feels a sharp pain in her leg as the breel bites her. Kell and Wu Chen are flung violently across the inside of the strange plant--which quakes violently as the breel embeds itself in the narrow gap!

((-6 HP to Leto, -3 to Kell and Wu Chen))

Leto is partially buried in mashed sea cucumber. There is a disturbing hiss coming from behind her. Kell and Wu Chen can see the breel's head is crushed. Blood flows freely from what's left of its head...

((END OF BATTLE))

Leto

Despite the gravity of the situation, Leto thoroughly enjoys the sensation of flying -- at least so long as the wind is with her. She watches in fascination as sea cucumbers rise to aid her; she can see Wu Chen's lips moving, but the wind in Leto's ears drowns out what the nun is saying.

They fly toward the last cucumber, and a wind blows them backward. Pain lances through Leto's leg from the breel's fang. Then she's landed, covered in mashed sea cucumber, breathless and in pain, but alive. She takes a moment to dig herself out, trying not to gag as she looks around. "Is everyone alright?"

The nun replies, "I am just…"

There is a rumble as light enters the strange gargantuan plant from above. The overhead portion of the plant splits and collapses to either side. At the same time, the breel sinks out of sight as acidic blood eats away at the plant below it. Our heroines now find themselves on a moist, somewhat spongey plateau. No further harm comes to them.

"…fine," Wu Chen finally says.

The three women can now look out into the sea. To their right is a large lily pad about ten feet wide. The Gardener from the temple is standing on it. Our heroines can't see her face under the brim of her hat—they see her long, dark hair flowing in the wind. She is facing the plateau.

To the left of our heroines is the plateau and a bearded old man. The wind is blowing in his face, just as the wind blows in the face of the woman Kell and Leto believe to be Demeter. Demeter and the man are facing each other, facing two different winds.

As the two stare at each other in silence, Wu Chen reads the sea plants in her languages, then translates. "Take care of my sister."

The man finally speaks, his words directed at the gardener.

"She is my sister, too."

Lightning strikes the plateau, leaving a smoldering crater where the man once stood. A vertical crack zig zags down the cliffside. Shortly after it reaches the sea, about a third of the plateau slowly sinks into the sea until it is gone.

The gardener is no longer on the lily pad. Instead, there is a pink blossom with petals as long as our heroines are tall.
