Leto

Leto flinches at the hiss of acid eating away at her friends' clothes and armor. She keeps her eyes on the breel, focusing on keeping the beast down with more arrows. Now is not the time to get distracted.

Leto's arrow bounces off the breel as her friends remove the clothing that is being burned. For Kell, this is easy. She wills her plant armor away, and the acid drops, burning a ring around her.

The ring around Wu Chen is torn fabric and melted bells. She is only wearing bandages to cover her breasts and giraffe-print culottes as undershorts.

The breel begins to fly. Wu Chen shouts, "You cannot escape me!" She uses her bladed wire to zip up onto the breel.

As the monster flies, Kell and Leto see Wu Chen punching its head. It seems the breel can't shake her off, even by doing barrel rolls! It's not Wu Chen's wire-fu that keeps her on. It's the entanglement spell. The plants are securing Wu Chen, and it looks like there's no way for the breel to attack her!

((The breel is circling the plateau. Kell's spell is complete, so she's armored again. The breel is too far away to shoot at. It's just two PC's and Wally's corpse for a little while.))

"Are you OK?" Kell asks Leto, checking her own self over. Relieved, all she sees is a few bumps and bruises.

"I can't believe Wu Chen rode the breel off like that, can you? Somehow it seems like something I can imagine Akantha doing, though." But the thoughts make her wonder how the big warrior princess is doing.

Finally, she examines Wallace's corpse. Does it look safe to move the body? And is there anything noteworthy?

Leto nods. "I'm not hurt at all. What about you? That acid blood..." She shudders.

She smiled faintly at the mention of Akantha. "I can see that too. At least we know she'd get a good grip on it."

When Kell looks over Wallace's body, Leto bends down to help see what she can see as well.

Our heroines find Wallace's great sword to be too great for their arms. Akantha might have a use for it, but our heroines will be too encumbered to fight effectively while lugging a heavy sword.

There is a wooden spear which is short, but very sharp. It has a spiraling thread like a screw. ((Kell can use this.))

There is also a high-tech device. If a skilled marksman points it at a target and pulls the trigger, it looks like a bladed wire will come out. The weapon is in rough shape. Leto has a feeling she shouldn't fire it unless she has to. Then she'll need to hope and pray that it works! ((One-use item / Leto can use this.))

The breel continues to fly and get punched a lot. Kell and Leto can chat a bit...

I tuck the contraption with the wire into my purse, then turn toward the breel's cave and speak to Kell. "Do you think there's anything worth looking for in there before the breel comes back? Then again, maybe we should wait until it's dead, just to be safe."

I grab the spear and shoulder it along with my staff. Turning to Leto, I say, "Do you have a light? I don't, and I think it's pretty dark in there. I'm not sure what we might be able to see without one."

Leto shakes her head and shrugs. "I don't have one, no. We might not want anything from a breel's cave anyway, if it has slime all over it."

"Or if it was bleeding, we might encounter acid blood. Without a light, I don't think going in there is a very good idea. Might be interesting if we had a light, though."

Leto nods, then remembers how she saw briefly through the breel's eyes. Could she do it again? She decides to try, and focuses on the cave in front of her, trying to see what the breel would see.

The breel circles halfway around the plateau...

Wu Chen is starting to look a bit dizzy from all the barrel rolls, but the plants from Kell's spell keep her secure. The nun gets some solid punches in.

Kell's new spear looks like it can pierce breel hide with little effort, but how can she get up there?

...suddenly, the breel starts veering toward you!

((9 beats 3, so PM to Ireth coming!

In addition, post what the two of you plan to do when the breel gets close. You can discuss over multiple posts, so this isn't a one-round thing. The breel's well out of arrow range, so you have maybe 30+ seconds to talk. The idea is for you to both agree to an action, then see if it works.))

Kell tells Leto, "I've got a good feeling about this spear. Wallace wouldn't have carried it if it wasn't useful against the breel, I don't think. But how do we get it to come back down so I can make an attack with it? I know Bob Oracle said it was immune to my pheromones, so I assume that means I can't charm it. Can you beast-speak it down? Then I can maybe run up and spear its brain or climb up or toss the spear to Wu Chen, or something?"

Leto shudders as she sees the inside of the cave through another's eyes. Not the adult breel, but one of dozens of hatchlings, watching their parent flying by with Wu Chen -- a "snack", as they call her -- on its head. A second hatchling is sick, and vomits acid; the first one says it and its siblings will eat the sick one later.

The first hatchling sees Leto and Kell outside the cave, and wants to eat them too. It likes when human "snacks" come, and their feet melt in the acid.

Leto jerks back to herself and shudders all over, then hisses to Kell. "Good thing we didn't charge in blindly. The cave is full of babies! One of them is sick and throwing up. They're all hungry and waiting to eat us if we go in there."

She looks up and sees the adult breel veering back toward them. "We should get rid of Parent first, though."

She listens to Kell's idea and purses her lips in thought. "I could try..."

As Kell mentions her spear, Leto notices there is a description written on her strange item.

Leto pulls out her new weapon and looks at it, noticing a description written on it. She reads aloud, "'Grappler Gun: point it to where you want to go, and hold on tight! Can support 300 pounds.' Well, this could come in handy... I could try the beast-speaking first, though, just to see if it'll work."

Kell's spear looks like it will do a lot of damage, but like the grappler gun, it's probably not built to last.

Our heroines will need to commit to their next move. The breel's approach is fast. It's swooping at them, and what looked like claws before now seem to function as talons!

((Commit to next move, and we'll see how it works out! You can still discuss. 10-15 seconds...))

Leto winces at the sight of the breel's claws as it swoops toward her and Kell. There's no time to focus properly on beast-speaking. She makes up her mind in a snap. "I'm going to try this thing. If you want a shot at the breel, you'd better hold onto me and that spear."
