Yeah, there is certainly the possibility of acquiring items that raise ability scores. They're not laying around all over the place, but there are some around dating back to before the Great War. +1 items are more common than +2, and so on

Cool. So, you're playing an elf wizard? Male or female? Hair color, style skin tone and such? The more I know, the closer your avatar will be to what you pictured (which may not be that close).

Hey mate, Well In my mind, Male elf wizard, White/silvery colored hair, he has a very pale colored skin tone, Narrow eyes, Not quite beady but he is always aware of everything around him. However he is an older wizard who always has a friendly sort of chuckle around him.
Neutral Good was his disposition i think i chose, because he is a good character , But knows when to make desicions people may not agree with when its for the greater good. Even though he is judged for it sometimes.
As a result he lives as a sort of loner studying his books all the time and further honing his skills, Most of his friends died long ago and the few he has left are away battling evil in the far reaches of the globe.(maybe hel bump into one or two sometime)
He does have the odd few people he gets along with though, The type of people he would choose to help out no matter the cost.

He usually chooses to wear rather plain clothes, Nothing sparkly, As thats for newer magiciansthat he doesnt seem to approve of as much
age wise i was thinking at least an age old, Maybe 1000?

This was mostly not thought out yet , However if you need any specifics let me know and il message you. should be able to think of them no problem when asked.

First, be welcome!

Before picking a caster class make sure to read the world's background and how magic works in this setting. It's not the classical setting, arcane magic can backfire and have some truly bad effects; we just watched an enemy caster fail a spell and summon a demon as result.

Also, mages are quite rare now and tend to be persecuted and burned/hanged, at least in the North.

I see , Well i have always had an attraction to caster classes, and even in the face of danger i reckon i shall still stay true to that.
yes i did, il have another read over it now, i am an elf wizard so i wont be using rune magic anyway, the arcane magician is my choice. If thats ok with you all of course

Well, i have messaged steerpike and am hoping to be able to jump into the game before the battle commences. not sure if i will have to get written it etc yet so im waiting on a reply

Guys:

Since we've lost a few players over the course of the game - Phil, Phietadix, and Ravana - I've made allowances for two new players:

SomethingToPonder and
kayd_mon

I'm going to cap it right there for now.

Options available to new characters are: 1) being located just outside of Srilkind, having seen the smoke from the attack and gone to investigate; or 2) having been inside the village when the attack hit, and now being holed up inside The Hooded Crow.

I didn't quite get the rune magic reference. Arcane magic, which is used by wizards and illusionists, also gets you corrupted. =P

I'm fine with your choice, I just feel that being the player of a corrupted wizard it's my duty to warn potentially new casters of the dangers of arcane magic, haha. In case you're curious to see how arcane magic has been used in game, I've started playing in the Act II. Rydh used some arcane magic in Act I, but he didn't botched so many spells as my character and didn't get any corruption point. Mauve is a proud collector, having 3 points so far.

NOTE:

A new player can also come across the Temple of Gefjon, having been out exploring near the Taint for reasons of their own. That's where SomethingToPonder is going to come in.

Ah...I think I misread SomethingToPonder's post.

The temple where the heroes are gathered is about a six-hour walk from Srilkind, so you can't see the party AND the siege at the same time. For that to work, SomethingToPonder's post will have to come later in time, once the party has already made it back to the town.

Just want to keep things clear.

SomethingToPonder - you can either edit that, or we can leave it and assume it is your entry point when the party gets there.

i edited it, so that i was wandering through the woods saw the smoke rising, then happened to see the party at the back of the temple.
