Legend

Have you seen Legend with Tom Cruise and Tim Curry? I saw it when I was a child and it's still my favorite movie.

I want to buy it on blu-ray.

Heh, yeah. I have that movie. Also saw it as a kid, saw it in the store a couple years back and impulse-bought it. Still an amusing watch. Great date movie too.

I love Legend. Is it Ridley Scott's best movie? No. The story is blatantly patterned on The Hero's Journey, and the characters are nothing more than archetypes.

Yet those shortcomings are part of the film's charm. It is a simple, dark fairytale with lush cinematography and a wonderful score by Tangerine Dream. There is something magical about it.

I too would love to buy it on blu-ray, although I don't think that it's been released yet on that medium. Does anyone know?

At least Legend was released on DVD (2002… be aware that this is with the original—European, orchestral—soundtrack, not the one from the U.S. release featuring Tangerine Dream). I'm still waiting for Curry's album Fearless to be released on CD… or even for the "Best of" CD to be re-released. Wonder if there's something about him and copyrights…?

Tim Curry is still mad at the world because most people don't know him from anything except Home Alone 2 and The rocky Horror Picture Show LMAO! I simply love him as an actor though regardless if he's a dopey hotel clerk, the devil, or a cross dressing alien LMAO!

I'd be more angry at the world if most people didn't remember me from anything except Annie.…:p

First thing I think of when I hear Tim Curry is Wadsworth from Clue. But I also think I saw that before I saw Rocky Horror or Home Alone 2.

Why does Legend have two different scores? The Tangerine Dream score is ethereal. I can't fathom a different score suiting the film so perfectly.

From what I understand, the Tangerine Dream score was put together when the film was re-cut for U.S. release… rather than trying to alter the existing orchestral score from the Euro release to fit the new edit. Since the DVD release was of the "director's cut" nature, the original score was restored along with it.

Neverending Story? HATED the movies once I read the book -.- he first one is the ONLY one I'll still watch LOL but yeah all three.. or was it four ? anyway none of them kept to the story it was about. The end of the first one should have been the end of the fourth one.. they left out the coolest part of the book which was the place that was a forest at night and a desert during the day.. Not to mention the LION Bastian rides through said desert... that turned to stone when the forest becan to bloom each night. That book right there e.e I will read it over and over with it's green text for "real" world and red text for Fantasia until I die.. That and the Last Unicorn... All time favorite books LOL

Well how about that... I just read that Legend has been announced for blu-ray, to be released in May.

It will be an "ultimate edition," which will include both the theatrical and directors cuts. Best of all, the audio and video have been remastered for both versions.

One of the special features is an isolated audio track for the Tangerine Dream score!

I remember not liking this when I was a kid, but I have no idea why since I can't remember much about it. Must mean it's due for a re-watch.

I loved the costume and make-up the demon/devil gave to the girl. That was the hight point of that movie for me, I'm afraid. Along with Tim Curry as the demon/devil. He's just too much fun!
