((I think it's good... it lets me charge up for a stronger cast without too much risk of losing control. If my next roll is better than that one but still crap (say, a 5), I can charge again with slightly more risk. If the next roll is better, then I think that gives me max power, enough to simulate a cannon-blast. Am I remembering that right, LS?))

((2 is very good. Only a 1 can cause a spell-fail next turn. 2 forces Vincent to charge again. A 3 or higher will allow Vincent to light something on fire.

Charging multiple times is risky, since failing would cast Nuke on Vincent.))

"Did someone say bet?" My ears perk up. "How about whoever ices the captain gets all the booty on their ship? What say ye? Ugh, why am I talking like a pirate. I'm a brawler. Get it right, PJ."

"I cannot give what is not mine to give. I will give half my share of da booty[said in pirate growl] to the one that slays the captain of the attacking ship."

--currently---

I sit quietly in the bacl of the skiff, waiting to board the ship, my cleavers don't have the range to be effective from the skiff.

"Awesome. More booty for me."

((Sorry I was gone for a couple of days. Back now. Not sure what's going on with the spells, but looks like we avoided getting blasted. Good deal!))

The skiff moves closer to the dark ship. Smoke is still rising from the both cannon fire, and the recently-extinguished flames on the sail. Vincent charges his spell while Diana and Reaver continue rowing. PJ stops paddling and looks ahead, as does Shan Mai, who contemplates the range of his cleavers.

A gust of wind blows the smoke away. As if on cue, fuses are lit and five frogmen pop into view.

The big one says, "Keep da cannons as dey are, Toadies! Dey'll drift inta range."

"We can't miss, Boss!" a Toadie replies. The other Toadies make strange croaking sounds, which might be a laugh.

As my magic charges, we float within range of the frogmen on the ship. I ignore their laughter, and the fuses they light for their cannons. Instead I look at what's behind them... barrels and barrels of powder.

A grin rises to my face. Even if I can't mimic a cannon-blast with magic alone, I might have just enough force behind this to accomplish much more.

I release my magic. The Fireflower arcs through the night -- with any luck, up and over the frogmen to the barrels behind them.

((Roll strength or agility to keep from falling off the skiff. Diana's better off with agility, PJ's just as good with either, strength for everyone else.))

My idea works gloriously -- five more kills to my count! But the skiff teeters dangerously in the water, and I fight to stay in it along with the others.

Looks like my strength has failed me! I brace myself for a cold dip in the sea.

Diana

Explosions engulf the enemy ship, and our skiff seems close to overturning. I'll need all of my agility to keep my seat!

In the flames and smoke, I can't see what's happening to the others. Is Vincent alright?

It all happened so quickly. One moment we're rowing ahead, preparing for a battle, the next there's a massive explosion and the skiff is nearly overturned by the concussive force of the blast. My only reaction is to grab hold of the sides of our small boat and hold on for dear life.

The only thing I can do after that is prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

On the Black and Blue Oyster...

In the most expensive suite, Princess Fenella is enjoying sweet dreams of chivalry, shining armor, and ukeleles. Her shimmering gown is made of the finest silk, that of the Roku-Rokanese Boring Worm. Wearing the flat world's most comfortable material while sleeping on a mattress containing the feathers of seventy-seven fully-plucked Fire Chickens, the 'teen too second-born to be queen' has never rested so well while at sea!

It's no wonder that Mariya can't wake her up. If the thuds of cannons, croaks of dying frogmen, and cheers as the ship sailed out of enemy range couldn't wake her, what can an eleven-inch-tall muse do? Push her off the bed?

Mother seems to think Her most royal follower is worth the trouble…

Finella can wake up, if Ruby chooses, or Mariya can blast her off the bed with a wind spell (without harming her amazon friend) if Noma would like to try her hand at die-rolling.

Both of our new heroes are on the cruise ship. By the time the rest of the group is in order, everyone will be able to board the enemy ship at around the same time. Let's not get caught up in the details of how two new characters suddenly show up. One of them is a goddess' daughter, so… there's the excuse I need.

Noma, Ruby, your characters are free to interact with each other or with people on the ship. I won't have artwork up tonight, but on the bright side, that means you're free to roam the ship.

If you leave the suite, you'll see other passengers just coming out of their cabins, a bit shaken. If you head to another deck, you'll see dead frogmen in colorful pantaloons (partially blood red) and some deckhands cleaning up the mess. If Princess Finella asks or demands to see the captain, she'll be taken straight to him.

*WHUMP*

The gust knocks the princess out of bed. Her landing shakes the floor, but not enough to tip the sword propped against the wardrobe. A sword just as tall and as fancy as Princess Fenella… who is finally awake.

Diana ♥♥♥♥ (enemy damage reduced)
Fenella ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Mariya ♥♥
Pale Jackal ♥♥♥♥♥
Reaver ♥♥ (damage increased)
Shan Mai ♥♥ (grappling power increased)
Vincent ♥♥♥♥ (offense increased)

Diana is too quick to be shaken from the skiff, and Pale Jackal is too worried about his hair. Reaver's adrenaline surge saves him from a swim. As for the others, there is no sign of them at the moment.

((PM's coming to those off-screen.))
