What are some good fantasy novels that are really out there? I'm talking the really original ideas, with incredible unheard of twists and quirks that wouldn't be found on the same shelf as The Lord of the Rings?

Um... I think Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn is pretty great original stuff, but I don't know if it's as original as you're looking for. Are you looking for more literary stories where things aren't linear and may or may not end? Or regular but very original fantasy?
