Greetings,

The staff of Mythic Scribes is pleased to announce the launch of the Myths Inscribed E-Zine. The e-zine currently features Mythic Scribes members, but is open to any and all authors who favor fantasy.

We have not forgotten mobile users! Myths Inscribed is also available through Google Currents! Click on the link and subscribe.

If you are an aspiring author eager to submit a short story, please click on this link to see our submissions guideline.

What are the submission deadline and projected publication dates of the next issue?

The next issue should be out within 2-3 weeks, if not sooner. We've already selected the stories for it, and are in the editing phase.

But if you would like to have a story appear in the following issue, I would submit it within the next several weeks. We're working on a bi-monthly schedule for now, although the frequency may increase in the future.

The ezine has been a huge success, and we're looking forward to producing more issues for a long time to come.

I have a short story and I a wonder what to do with it. I might have a look around, I am sure I can submit something. Nice to read other people's stories as well:)

At the moment, you can use the search boxes on the right of the screen: the easiest way is to select "Contents" from the "Categories" box. This will bring up all posts that carry the "Contents" category, so you get them for all issues from most recent on back.

Selecting an issue from "Past Month" will bring up the whole issue at once (unfortunately, the contents post displays last: we'll get that fixed in the future). You can also use "Categories" to select fiction, poetry, etc., though, again, these will bring up all items from that category, regardless of issue, starting with most recent.

Eventually, we'll get a more visible link to past issues up in the navigation bar, though it will work in essentially the same way that searching for Contents posts does now.

Glad you want to keep on readin'! :)

When will issue #3 be out? I have a submission that has been "in-progress" on submittable since February. But nevermind my story, I look forward to reading these. I really enjoyed the first two issues.

Right now we're looking at issue #3 coming in June or July. We're following a quarterly schedule for the time being.

We still have room for a couple more stories in the upcoming issue, so if anyone else would like to make a submission, you can do so here:

By the end of July, yep. Was hoping to get it out in June, but it didn't happen. This will. And it'll be a far better issue for the unintended delay, so I suppose it turned out for the good. :)

Oh, hey, wow.…

I didn't even need to appeal to Hawaii time this issue. I got it out while it was still July in the Mountain zone!

:D

Yep you're right… and now I am totally freakin' confused. Because it displays properly when I log in as an admin, but doesn't when I just visit the site—which, of course, is how everyone else will be doing it. And I've gone through all the obvious candidates for mistakes I might have made (and did find one, which I thought would have fixed it, but nooo…), so apparently I have to start delving into my advanced programming knowledge to debug.

In case anyone was wondering, my "advanced programming knowledge" derives mainly from one non-credit class in FORTRAN taken more than thirty years ago. In other words: pure guesswork. :p

The content is there, as it turns out: if you go to the "Categories" pulldown in the sidebar, "Contents" will give you the usual "In This Issue," and all of the links there work as they ought to. (You can also pull down Fiction or Articles, if you don't want the navigational assistance. Or you can use the "Past Issues" pulldown and select August, to get the whole issue at once, if you don't mind the posts being in no particular order.)

So, yes, the issue is up. The home page just isn't displaying what it's supposed to. Sorry 'bout that, folks. I'm working on it.

…bloody syntax errors.…

Try it now.

(P.S. And I'm still confused—since the error should only have affected the Contents box: the "Featured X" excerpts ought to have displayed correctly, as far as I can tell. But at least it's working now.)

While you are fixing things, maybe add a link to the e-zine from the main Mythic Scribes website? There does not appear to be one anywhere, not even on the sitemap page. It would make it a lot easier for people who don't know it exists to find it (and hopefully to submit stories for the next issue).
