    A question on wine

Thank you all for your input! It's definitely gonna help me when I'm writing scenes set in taverns or social gatherings. Plus I'm still trying different drinks, just so I can get a better understanding of each type of alcohol. You guys rock! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    A question on wine

I've been writing fantasy since before I was legally allowed to drink alcohol (21 years old in the states, for any non US members). So I've never really been sure how to write about the taste of alcohol, the effects of it, etc. I turned 21 recently, and had my first glass of wine last night...

    Little Question on Mythology

I'm currently in a D&D game brilliantly run by my best friend. As part of the story, he told each of us to choose one item from mythology that we were going to use in game. It could be any item, as long as it had some base in mythology. I chose Mjolnir for my dwarf fighter. I'm starting to...

    How to start your story?

Start at the very beginning. I hear it's a very good place to start.

    Star wars!!!!

Despite being a pretty big Star Wars fan, I can't say that I'm too excited for this one. I care more about the episodic films.

I took an arrow to the scapula...

Ok, so I had to google scapula, because I didn't know what it was. Now that I know, I gotta say that your character should pretty much be dead or near death. If the arrow didn't kill her, that 100 ft fall should have.

    The dangers of real-world plants

I use made up plants, mostly because I just suck at botany. It's easier for me to make up my own plants than having to keep track of various real world vegetation.

    About Info Dumps...

I'm glad someone referenced Fellowship of the Ring, because I was going to. My current story starts off with a three day elvish festival that celebrates the coming of spring. Each day focuses on a different aspect. Day one is centered around the history of the elves. Day two is a day of...

Is this too similar to 'the wall'?

I thought of the Pink Floyd album too, and I gotta admit that I was disappointed that it wasn't what the OP was referring to...

    A lack of cursing

Man that article was kinda cringe worthy. He doesn't write profanity because he wasn't raised to talk that way? Well, neither was I! When I first started writing all the way back in middle school, I tried to keep my books squeaky clean. But then I realized it wasn't working, especially since I...

    A lack of cursing

For me, it doesn't particularly matter if a story includes cursing. Personally, I include it, because I'm targeting a slightly older audience. But if I were to pick up a fantasy novel and find that there's no swearing in it, I wouldn't even give it a second thought.
