I got it to work in Chrome Browser. And there were other people in there. Not working in Firefox.

    What Ticks You Off?

The part that makes it bad is when all the white characters turn to the audience to tell me that they hate slavery.

    What Ticks You Off?

Slavery. I hate reading about it in Fantasy Books. Slavery is Bad, I already agree with you. You have nothing new or interesting to say on the topic. Just stop. I put down Mistborn after page 7 because of this. May memory of this maybe different from reality, but from my POV the MC says to a...

    Chat

I showed up yesterday after a long absence from the site. Was wondering if the chat even existed anymore. But then, they probably would have made a post about that :P

    Magic Systems

I tend to make this argument in my head a lot. Don't know If I have posted it here before. Wizards of Waverly Place has a good magic system. (WHAT???) If you look at it on paper, it makes no sense and it is not consistent. However, Wizards is a comedy show for children. The magic only exists to...

    Philosophy in your worlds

I have this Martial-Arts society. The soldiers have a very simple metaphor "The Living Arrow" it's about living life goal-oriented and letting go of anything that slows you down.

    Magic's Effect on Politics

Here is one problem not being addressed: If your time 24/7 is dominated by statecraft, how do you make time for Magic? Consider the possibility that being a magic-user requires certain obligations of the individual to preform certain rituals, or to maintain a certain state-of-mind. In the same...

    Synonyms for Spells and Spellcraft?

I like it when generic terms like wizard and mage are thrown out in favor of words more specific to the setting.

    Writerly Arrogance

There is this annoying idea people have that accuracy must be absolute to tell a good story. Technical Manuals are accurate, but you don't read those for good storytelling, do you? Such people are quick to point out flaws as if it invalidate the premise of the novel. As for the hate against...

    Kingdom Names

I once had the idea that Big places, like countries, would have short names. (like 3 letters each) and smaller and smaller places would have longer and longer names. The smaller the place, the longer name it has.

Do you use your original creature or creatures from existing mythology?

My current works are mostly human, a couple variations on shape-shifting, very few monster or non-humans. My Alchemist setting does have people crafting monsters in their labs. the ending might have a Manticore.

When do fantasy humans cease to be human?

None of my current settings are filled with non-human races. When you strip all the scales and pointy ears, they are all just humans.

The Right Amount of Fantasy Stuff

How do you know when your world has the right amount of fantasy stuff to populate it? One of my settings is on the lower side of Fantasy. There are 2 or 3 distinct spell-casters. There are two major time periods in the world. One where 'giant cloud gods' ruled and magic was just everywhere, and...

    Swag

I was just thinking about uping the swag-facor in my WiP. Errybody was wearing rags... feel like pimping out their threads.
