    what's in a vegetable soup? Whatever you like. As a staple I'd suggest dragons and magic but it's entirely a matter of preference.

    I agree, just write it. If you need the undead for your story then include them. They'd certainly add conflict and ramp up the stakes :) Good luck!

    I haven't seen this but will it confuse a reader? I couldn't say. As long as the story works, then historical fiction exists, why not historical fantasy? I'd just be concerned if you're hoping to publish traditionally then it might be hard if your book doesn't fit into a genre. Go into a book...

    Can you add any parts pertinent to story at different parts of the story? I found I was more engaged from "innumerable nights..." but definitely ask the questions raised above.
