I’m pleased to announce my poem ‘City of Stone’ has been published in New Myths, a quarterly e-zine that specialises in speculative fiction and poetry. It's a great magazine and well worth checking out.

This is a link to my review of a new book on fantasy writing by Kevan Manwaring, the author of the mythic realist novels 'The Windsmith Elegy.' The book explores the roots of fantasy writing, and the question of what drives and inspires us to continue writing, as well as providing lots of...
Congratulations on setting up Long Count Press. Your focus on the 'rich cultural heritage' of Mesoamerica sounds really interesting. I think working with the existing history, stories and culture of the land where you live (or if you don't live there a land that inspires you) is really...
Hi folks,
Just messaging to let you know I enjoyed the last version of Mythic Scribes- 3 very different contrasting fiction pieces. I think my favourite was 'Pied' - I enjoyed the humour and thought the first line 'Only a fool would agree to work for fairies' was a great opener. Many thanks...
Hi folks, I've liked your FB author's pages and am looking forward to your updates.
I don't have a FB page myself as I don't think FB gives enough space to share a detailed opinion or bring a piece of writing to a reader's full attention. When I'm on FB I tend to go into 'scan' mode, however...
The issue looks great. I really enjoyed 'Painted Truths' - plenty of tension between the characters and a combination of tragedy and mystery. Also loved that troll in 'Paying the Troll.' Reminded me a bit of Pratchett. Very funny and a realistic depiction of horse and rider.
Hi Sharonlee, I'd be up for sharing and critiquing poetry. My poetry's more mythic than fantasy but the dividing line is so blurry it barely matters. I'd be happy to do this in a thread on the showcase or via private message. If this sounds like something you would be interested in let me know.
Hi everybody,
Very pleased to announce that my poem 'The Bull of Conflict,' a glosa based on words spoken by Gwyn ap Nudd in 'The Black Book of Caermarthen' has been published in Issue 15 of Heroic Fantasy Quarterly :)
THE BULL OF CONFLICT - Heroic Fantasy Quarterly
Yey, this should constitute my evening reading until the world ends :)
I particularly like the idea of the warp and weft section. It's great to see an offer of encouragement to aspiring writers from the editors. I think this will be very valuable.
@ Aravelle
Like Ghost I agree. The way of finding inspiration and crafting a poem are completely different to writing stories or a novel. Whilst for me a novel's a long slog in front of the computer for hours a day I find with poems it's more a case of spending time in nature and reading...
@ Wildink
I'd check out the poetry in some online magazines. These are some of my favourites for fantasy poetry.

Hi, I'm just wondering whether there's anybody else out there interested in poetry? I recall a couple of months back there were a few posting on the poetry thread (Ireth, Jon Snow, Ghost, Gavin Tonks). Is anybody else writing mythic / fantastic poems, attempting to get published online or in...
