    Your Worst Slump

for the last 3 years i've been in much of a slump. Barely writing long amounts of sentences, and still having having trouble finishing my novel i've been working for almost 6 years and coming close to just trunking it indefinitely. it's been a struggle to find the motivation to be a true writer...

    A change in setting era.

In all fairness I'm not very far with the writing in fact I'm still on the first page (5th attempt to draft) all I have mostly is plot. I've mostly been avoiding trying to come up with a setting other than the simple Tolkien medieval fantasy

    A change in setting era.

Not really earth. The setting was more Tolkienesque before. The reason I'm worried is because one of the MCs is a swordsman. Now I'm considering making it a fantasy Western.

    A change in setting era.

I originally planned on having the setting of my WIP as a typical Medieval fantasy, but a recent draft had me include a mandolin, a distinctly late 19th century instrument. This made me think of reworking it as a "Romantic era" setting. Though i worry if the emergence of firearms would...

Holding a full-time job while trying to be a writer

As much as i want writing to the full-time job, at this stage, it's not the case. I work as a welder in a factory making aluminum furniture. I clock in for 8 hours and then come home, shower, eat, go to bed. Repeat for instant hell. I try to find the time to be a writer but i can't seem to...

Avoid getting influenced by the tense of the book you're reading.

    Writing from artwork?

As a writer, I struggle with writing vivid enough description. (Too infomercial there I know.) I don't know if it's because i lost some of my imagination or I'm just not trying hard enough. I've been looking thorough others artwork, and I love how they portray their characters in the piece...

Do you know this type of people?

Usually something like this is one of two things: 1) The person can't separate their reality from the reality of the world in the story, 2) The writer has failed to properly establish what works and doesn't work in their world. on the discussion of the second point, the way to solve this in a...

I need Irish spirits and demons

I'm trying to write a story about a protective spirit, in the form of a man, coming to the aide of another man who is tormented by demons and evil spirits because of a curse. There's very few things i know in Irish Mythology. Any info is appreciated.

    Rules of SF/Fantasy to Break

My main WIP is planned to be a stand-alone. I dislike that so many authors are trying to do epic fantasy at epic lengths more frequently. I agree with the writer: why can't we have a single book story?

    How to find your niche

I use the term 'niche' loosely. Like someone going "Hey, I'm pretty good at writing this. Let's come up with more ideas."

    How to find your niche

I've been sitting in a fit of depression all day pondering my writing (the typical self-doubt B.S.), and i wondered why i haven't been able to come up with very many ideas for the types of stories i want to write. I love the holy trinity of fiction equally (Horror, Fantasy, Science Fiction), and...
