Romance scenes on the rare occasions I'm inclined to write them, are more style over substance. I don't like giving romance to my favourite characters either, they're too busy with things that actually matter. :showoff:
This is generally not how I work, as anything I write, I have to illustrate. Which is a pain in the ass. I'd rather spend enough time on preparation so I know what I'm doing early on.
On the other hand, one has to be careful because a gap that's too wide between hero and villain will limit storytelling options and make it so they can't meet each other until the end and even then the villain only loses because of their own stupidity. Aka Eragon and Galbatorix syndrome.
I'd burst out laughing if characters stopped to talk about their feelings for each other while the fate of a nation or the world was at stake or while the villains have their finger on the button.
I don't like the idea if romance or sex makes her no longer act aggressive. Makes it seem like she was just sexually frustrated this whole time. If she develops out of that aggression, it has to be carefully and slowly done I think. I would not want to see her go from one of the few willing to...
The Chosen One is an arrogant premise. The implication that it all comes down to one person in the end and that person takes the credit as "chosen" to save the day. What about the hard work of everybody else? Allies who fought and worked to put the chosen one in a position to bring it home...
The Batman treats his allies like dumb children and everybody loves that. But when a woman acts half as aggressive towards allies thats a no go apparently. Dr House , Sherlock Holmes, hell Eric Cartman, lovable jerkasses that as a role seem off limits to females. The open question is if writers...
Sounds like the traditional fairytales, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, A Little Princess, The Little Matchstick Girl, Rapunzel, these are all stories with leads who endure a great deal of misfortune with quiet nobility with no ability to effect change themselves. That is left to the men. But is...
Isn't Korra alot older than Aang? I haven't seen the show but she certainly appears so. If her conflict and fear is comparable to Aang, I can see why there would be a problem there. In general, while male characters have conflict and fear and cry at times one notices that they don't stay in that...
Eragon and Eldest Omnibus - Christopher Paolini - Google Books
She's a 100+ year old elite elf royalty acting that butthurt sensitive over a 16 year old's idea that its too dangerous for her to fight. :o
If an aggressive MC SFC falls in love with the main male lead gives up fighting and becomes a soft, submissive housewife, while her husband who surpassed her decades of training quickly (chosen one), went on heroic adventures with their son, leaving her behind. She says "I'll be with you in...
