I wasn't intending that they find the hand at all -- maybe the wolf ate it. I wonder if the dwarves would make him a prosthesis? Might not work like a real hand (unless we have a mage who could make it so), but better than a stump.

Count with Rydh or Hiljikki to enchant your prosthesis. Even if Mauve had such kind of magic she'd get it wrong, making you end up with a third foot instead. ._.

*looks around* Hm... quiet in here...

I really hope someone is able to post today and get Cadell out of danger before he passes out and dies of bloodloss. ._.;

I think we're waiting for Steerpike.

Also, unless you've been PM'd about blood loss, it looks like Cadell is only down 2 HP. So I guess he has 8 HP remaining—or 9 if you have a +1 in CON.

Well, he's down 2 HP and his left hand. The hand is significant. I don't mean to come off as "bah, shake it off, you only lost 20% of your health!"

On the bright side, maybe one of these could soon be yours:

Indeed. I haven't been PM'd about bloodloss, and Cadell unfortunately has no CON bonus. I guess perhaps I'm overplaying the extent of his injury? He seems to be down a lot more than 2 HP. I dunno.

Heheh. That's the plan, more or less. ^^

Let's go hand hunting, so!

Meanwhile... I'm curious to see how the corruption is going to be described and is roleplayed in higher levels, not only as a game penalty. There is a bright side in everything. :D

I don't think you're overplaying it. Losing a hand is a huge deal. I like they way you're playing this out! And if you embrace permanent damage to your character… well, here's hoping the dwarves can forge a Groovy Ash Hand™.

I'm impressed at the fighting ability of horses. You knights seem better off dismounted! Now you each have a powerful ally with two attacks per turn! How much HP does a horse have? If that's not something revealed to players, my guess would be beyond the teens. 20+? 30+? I'm sure they can take a few blows before we need to worry about them.

Heheh. Glad you're enjoying it, 'cause poor Cadell certainly isn't. He lost the same hand in the RP I adapted him from. *huggles him*
Cadell: *grumbles* Evil woman.

I know, right? Although, Matthew's horse seems pretty badly hurt at the moment. Llucheden's doing fine, though.

Down 8 HP… he'll live. Unless I'm wrong about horses being much tougher than…

Hey, wait a min—already lost the same hand in another—did Steerpike know this? This whole hand thing seems staged! At least I hope it is, so we don't become an entire party of Ashes and Luke Skywalkers. Baldhart always picks her nose when the other characters aren't looking. How is she supposed to do that with mechanical fingers?

Ohhh, don't even start about the horses, I'm jealous of them. They're some of our best fighters right now, I vote for releasing them over our foes and just watching, mwahaha!

You are correct, sir. This was set up between Steerpike and me over PM just before the battle started. I figured if I was adapting Cadell's backstory and all, I might as well go all the way and adapt his most significant injury (though in a different context). In the first RP he loses the hand in the battle which is now in his backstory as per this RP, because said battle hadn't been played out yet before I made the adaptation, and it was a next-to-last minute idea in the first RP.

New posts coming up soon. And no, low-level healing spells cannot restore lost limbs, so there is nothing Rydh can do to regenerate the hand. That would require some high-level magic.

@Ireth - yeah. And the rolls at Unseen Servant have played right along with it.

It is rare that I would inflict an amputation or something severely disfiguring on a character. I did have one game where a character had an eye put out, and the player wasn't too happy about it. But it fit under the circumstances. If you want an RPG where lost limbs, eyes, and even sudden and violent deaths are common, take a look at Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay :)

Alright, that cements it. Cadell is now officially the Dragon's Egg Resident Badass. Nobody else could get in a solid hit like that with his non-dominant hand.

PMs from Nissa

@Burnbright, you rock! (That's a good thing.) Baldhart won't be mad at all. She'll bake you cookies. Lead the charge! Um… just don't get your hands chewed off by wolves. They really do that!

@Cadell, give Baldhart back her awesomeness! She missed by a mile. I'm ethereal and incapable of physical contact, and even I could've come closer to hitting that pippy-pantsed goblin! (PS- You have plenty of awesomeness of your own! See above post from some guy named Sparkie.)

@Amaroq, put that damn dog out of its misery! If you don't, Sir Matthew will name it Gummy and it will replace you as his favorite pet. One hoof-stomp on the back of the neck. Sever its spine. Be a good horsey, Amaroq. KILL!

Cadell: *laughs* Apologies, Nissa. Could I perhaps hold onto it long enough for Rydh to reach me and heal my arm?

PM from Amaroq

@Nissa, I'm sorry but I can't kill the wolf. My name means 'wolf' and I'll never harm one that poses no threat. I'm sure Matthew is smart enough with his 13 Int to know not to name it Gummy. And he might even give it to the druid so I'm not in too much danger of being replaced.

@Burnbright, Don't listen to that stupid Valkarie. If you go into the battle Baldhart will kill you, and so will Matthew.
