PS- Just to clarify, since I've seen a few piggy-back references in-game: Nod wasn't piggy-backing during that battle. He got off of Baldy so she could undress for swimming, and only hopped on again while she swam. Once they had the boat back, Nod was behind Baldhart. I was rolling for Phil since he's very busy with the new job so I can see how they'd have been seen as a piggy-back team.

Phil trusted me not to get his guy killed, though I did contemplate having Nod heroically dive between Baldhart and the monster's lunging maw singing, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Maybe the teeth would have missed, and Nod would would have stood in the mouth unharmed, beating the uvula like a punching bag?

Sounds good. If everyone hasn't joined by the time I post today, I'll just assume the party is all gathered in the room with the fire. Let me know if you guys are going to secure the doors to the room or anything like that.
Steerpike's cool with it, so we're moving!

So very much wanted to have Algernon say "I had a 'maginary friend once. But he left. Said I din't have enough." :p

Somehow didn't seem appropriate to the circumstances. Especially since Algernon has no reason to think of Nissa as an "imaginary friend" in the first place.

Totally found a theme song for Cadell, with regards to his newfound doubts about his standing with his queen. Quite pretty, rather sad.

(Check out more of Kate Rusby's stuff too, it's also pretty. And mostly sad.)

((Recharging mana may be a good idea, but I think we should avoid staying in one place too long. Let's see what's in the place that Nod saw!))
Baldy needs a 5-hour rest if you want Nissa to fly ahead with a torch. (-2 mana @ Lv.2 recovery rate) Baldy could summon her from the shore using a torch. Both Nissa and Aqua-Mauve have a 10-minute duration, so if Nissa can fly it, Mauve can swim it.

I don't think it's a good idea to use her transformation just to scout, for it leaves her exhausted after.

I mean Nissa scouts, not Aqua-Mauve. If Nissa can make the distance and find land, we know Mauve won't revert to human form in the middle of a swim.

Mauve has to be able to make the return trip, too, so we'd need a spot for her in the boat. (If there's a second boat that we can retrieve, that'll make things easier.)

EDIT - If Nissa can make the round trip and hang out for a few minutes, then Mauve can likely make the round trip as well… though I suppose the boat is slower than Nissa's flight?

Wait, I'm confused! xD

Do you want Mauve to go swimming in human form? Isn't it better to make more than one travel? Don't forget it's freezing above the tunnels, if I can keep Mauve out of the water I'll; I don't think they all would fit the boat anyway.

If it was already illuminated, could she travel ahead and tell us whats ahead? Since no one can see her. Simply return to tell of what she found? No mana use as long as she didn't become or take on a physical body?
(I assume she must have light to see. no portals to open, she can't fly through things can she?)

@Nihal, I mean that Nissa's manifestation and Mauve's transformation have the same time limit (10 minutes). So whatever distance Nissa can move gives us an idea as to whether Mauve can travel that same distance in fish form, assuming they move around the same speed.

In other words, if Nissa flies out and sees a tunnel and no land for ten minutes, Mauve should NOT swim because she'll turn human before we reach land, and yes, she'll drown or freeze to death.

I'm also under the assumption that Mauve would swim near a boat, preferably with space for her in it. Or she could stay in the boat, but transform if we get attacked by something that can swim. (Your character; your choice.)

The boat fits 4; 5 if Nodrick is aboard.

EDIT - Replying to multiple travel: Yes, no swimming if we can ferry over a few players at a time. Swimming is only for emergencies. If Nissa's scouting reveals a clear path, tell Mauve to keep her clothes on!

@Severin, Nissa would have to manifest to see more than what Baldhart sees. (Otherwise, I'd send an invisible scout everywhere!)

EDIT - She needs the torch to stay materialized, too. Fire is required for her to manifest (at this level). Her soul is normally in Baldhart's body, except when Baldy faces fire or strong sunlight (at dawn—see first page of Act I).

@Ravana, when I first created the character, I wasn't sure if Steerpike would consider her an imaginary friend so I wrote in a way that would work whether Nissa's real or not—let the reader interpret. When Ireth mentioned the prospect of Nissa leveling and Steerpike PM'd me that she could manifest herself, well… the hard part was keeping quiet about it until reaching level 2.

Well... she won't jump on icy waters unless necessary: Battle. When in the wild she doesn't even wash her hair regularly! (I think it's the first time you're seeing her with an untangled, clean hair hah)

They're 10, it'll take 3 trips. One person has to remain inside the boat all the time to bring it back and Mauve can stay too(not sure if she can row well) if you wish the extra security of a stripper fish—although it would be troublesome to get out all her clothes, I guess she'll need to stay in her tunic & trousers only, and... oh... I think she's barefoot! o.o

Edit: Ninja'd! D:

Anyone gathered Mauve's tatters? I think she'll have to improvise some new shoes. D:

Oh, and it would be awesome if Cadell still have needle & thread!

I think Cadell put his makeshift pincushion into his horse's saddlebags... but who knows, maybe he took it out again before they went into the tunnels. ^^
